 LEARN MORE ABOUT JERAMEY'S  VISION

ECONOMY & JOBS

Economy

Jeramey understands the value of hardworking Mississippians, understands the value and contributions small businesses make to our local economy.

Jeramey has traveled internationally to countries like Canada and Switzerland exploring the international business relations between the State of Mississippi, the United States and other nations.  Jeramey will use these experiences to help him craft smart, effective economic policy that empowers our community’s businesses to compete globally, create good-paying jobs with benefits, and build Mississippi into an economic powerhouse.

Jeramey believes that progressive and responsible economic policy should be the priority for maximizing opportunities for small businesses, investors and consumers.

As the Chairman of the Mississippi Future Caucus, Jeramey understands that in order for Mississippi to grow we must retain young talent in our state.  Jeramey will ensure that opportunities for small, medium and large-scale companies are vibrant, college is accessible, affordable, and folks are able to retire comfortably.

In Congress, Jeramey will fight to ensure insurance premiums don’t force businesses to fold or layoff hardworking Mississippians.

Jeramey has continued to fight for minimum wage while in the Mississippi Legislature by co-authoring and authoring legislation to establish such law.  He has also stood strong against gender pay inequality, fighting to ensure folks receive equal pay for equal work regardless of their race, faith, gender, sexual orientation or ethnicity.

National Security

National Security

Jeramey received his degree in Homeland Security and understands the threats America faces and the complexity of international politics.

In Congress, Jeramey will push for a tough, smart foreign policy that protects our national security while avoiding reckless and destabilizing missteps to help avoid international conflicts.

Jeramey supports the investigation of Russian interference in American politics.  In Congress, he will work to preserve the integrity of the United States electoral process and support sanctions on any foreign interference.  Jeramey will defend the NATO alliance, which remains essential to our national security here at home.

Jeramey will oppose unnecessary military intervention overseas and will only support the use of force where US national security is at stake.  While in the Mississippi Legislature, Jeramey drafted House Concurrent Resolution 113, a concurrent resolution urging the Congress of the United States to vote no on the proposed drastic budget cuts to the United States Institute of Peace and United States State Department, thereby protecting the American interests of global Peace and Prosperity.  Diplomatic approaches will always be Jeramey’s first approach to solving international conflicts around the world.

Jeramey will be strong and uncompassionate on terror and will back efforts to destroy ISIS without deploying regular US ground forces. He will work to ensure that law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and the military have the resources and authorities’ necessary to prevent terrorism without sacrificing privacy and human rights.

Jeramey is committed to Israel’s security as a homeland for the Jewish people and to strengthening the historic, unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel, one of our oldest allies.

Jeramey has meet several times with the Consul General of Israel and other Israeli diplomats while in the Mississippi Legislature and will be a fighting member of Congress to strengthen diplomatic military ties between the U.S. and Israel.

Jeramey will work to ensure Israel’s military capabilities enable it to defend itself in a large and protracted multi-front war against hostile states and terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah. Israel is a small country in a volatile region that must be equipped to prevail in military conflict with multiple hostile nations and terrorist organizations.

Jeramey believes the United States should play a leading role in efforts to secure a lasting peace in the Middle East. Such a lasting peace will require direct bilateral negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, the aim of which should be the achievement of a two-state solution with Israel and a Palestinian state living alongside each other in peace. Any peace deal must protect Israel’s territorial integrity and ensure Israel’s security as a sovereign democratic state and a homeland for the Jewish people without threat of terrorism or invasion.

Health Care

Health Care

Health care is not a privilege. Health care is a right.

Mississippians should have access to affordable health care to ensure the progression and prosperity of every citizen.

A person’s health is interconnected with nearly all other facets of their life. This is why health care is a pertinent piece of my public servant work.

We must work together to persevere the promises of Medicaid and Medicare to ensure healthy lives of our most valuable and vulnerable Mississippian populations. Our most cherished residents must be protected, both the elderly and the young, from funding cuts that would hinder their ability to seek high-quality health care.

Specifically, mental health care is a topic that needs to be at the forefront of health care conversations. I can no longer allow mental health care funding to be slashed while Mississippians struggle to find help for themselves or loved ones.

Access to affordable health care is paramount to the successful futures of every Mississippian. Mississippians with pre-existing conditions should not be discriminated against and denied affordable care.

I will fight to ensure that Mississippians have access to health care options that will not cripple their pockets.

I will support comprehensive sexual health education to educate young people with medically accurate, evidence based curriculums that will aid in the elimination of negative health outcomes.

I will utilize bipartisan tactics to reach across the aisle for optimal health care legislation.

It is a of the utmost importance for Mississippians to have accessible, affordable, high quality health care - health care that shouldn’t be financial death sentence for those who cannot afford astronomical coverage costs and co-pays.

It is time for bi-partisan efforts to be made to secure the well-being of every citizen of the Magnolia State.

Civil Liberties & Civil Rights

Civil Rights

Our Constitutional rights, our civil liberties, and our privacy are sacred.

Throughout our history, patriots, abolitionists, civil libertarians, suffragettes, and civil rights heroes have made huge sacrifices to advance liberty and justice for all.  We are not perfect but every day we should continue striving together toward a more perfect union.

Jeramey will fight for our civil liberties to ensure that every American is free to determine the course of their own life so long as they don’t harm others.

Jeramey has a strong record of standing up against voter suppression.  Jeramey current serves on the Advisory Board for "Let America Vote" which is an organization dedicated to winning the public debate over voter suppression in the United States.  Jeramey will oppose cynical attempts by politicians to win elections by undermining Americans’ hard-fought, sacred voting rights.

America needs a strong border policy that protects American citizens and American jobs. We should welcome those strivers who, like our own forebears, seek the opportunity to work hard, play by the rules, and build better lives in America.

Jeramey believes it is a violation of core American principles to slander entire religious groups and that it’s unconstitutional to ban anyone from entering our country on religious grounds.

As our representative in Congress, Jeramey will fight tirelessly against discrimination, hate speech, or violence against Americans on the basis of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or place of birth.

Jeramey will stand up for due process and equal treatment under law for all of us, regardless of race or income level. Jeramey will honor law enforcement and stand up for Mississippians who are mistreated by the criminal justice system.

Women's Health

Women's Health

Jeramey believes that a woman has the right to choose, he also believes that women should have easy access to contraception.  Jeramey promises to stand firm and continue to fight against any legislation or executive action that would directly or indirectly discriminate against women.

Jeramey will stand with planned parenthood and continue to support the necessary preventive and reproductive health care services like cancer screenings, STD testing and low-cost birth control to millions of American women.

Serving our Veterans

Veterans

Jeramey believes that our veterans should receive world class service.  Jeramey will support legislation to strengthen VA services that prevents delays in VA services.  Jeramey will ensure Veterans receive timely and the best services as our veterans must be our top priority.

Honoring & Defending Seniors

Seniors

Our country decided long ago that America’s seniors will not be neglected or forgotten. A civilized, prosperous nation cannot abandon its elders to destitution or homelessness, or allow them to go without health care.

Medicare and Social Security are vital programs that reflect our values and our commitment to honor and support seniors.

Seniors paid for these benefits throughout their lives. Many of those from the Greatest Generation, who fought through the Depression and won World War II, still count on these critical programs.

Jeramey will stand up and honor all seniors as if they were his own family members.

Education

Education

All Mississippian – all Americans – should have the opportunity to reach their God given full potential. We should ensure our children and young people get the best education in the world.

Jeramey will work in Congress to ensure our local schools get the resources they need to hire and keep great teachers, to invest in technology to keep students learning at the cutting edge, and to reduce class sizes.  While in the Mississippi Legislature Jeramey has stood strong on protecting public education.

Teachers should be honored, given the support and tools they need to do their best work, and paid better.

In the Mississippi Legislature, Jeramey authored House Bill 1729, an act that would establish the Mississippi Critical Needs School District Tax Credit Act of 2017.  The bill would’ve established the Mississippi critical needs school district tax credit program to attract first-year teachers to geographical areas of the state where there exists a critical need in primary and secondary education instruction, and to retain those first-year teachers and veteran teachers who serve as licensed teachers in critical needs school districts by making tax incentives available to them.

He believes that the biggest investment you can ever make is the ones you make in yourself.  Jeramey will work to reduce the burden of student debt on young Americans.  Jeramey will work to make college more affordable. Student debt shouldn’t prevent young Americans from saving, investing in their careers, and reaching their potential.

Jeramey will promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education for Mississippi’s students and professional education to qualify young Mississippians for the workforce after high school.

The Environment

Environment

Jeramey will be informed by scientists, not lobbyists, when it comes to environmental policy, and he will work to make Mississippi a clean energy economic powerhouse.

There is a clear scientific consensus that climate change is driven by human activity and that it threatens global prosperity, health, and security. This is not just the opinion of activists; it is the studied conclusion of our country’s distinguished scientists. Our military and intelligence agencies agree. Jeramey supports the climate change agreement reached last year in Paris.  He will oppose efforts to undo or weaken it and will work to make the United States a global leader against climate change.

Clean air and clean water are not controversial, nor partisan. They are essential to our health, our prosperity, and our quality of life.

Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice

When it comes to crime in America, we need to rethink our priorities and rethink how we police our communities.  Jeramey received his associate's degree in Criminal Justice and has supported such reforms in the Mississippi Legislature.

Violent crime, murder, rape, human trafficking, and corruption are rampant, while we spend billions locking up nonviolent drug offenders.

Jeramey will work to give law enforcement the tools and resources they need to take down organized criminals wherever they are.

Jeramey will work to reduce mass incarceration of nonviolent offenders, which punishes taxpayers and wastes American lives.

Anti-Corruption

Anti-Corruption

Jeramey serves on the House Committee on the Investigation of State Offices and has served on the Transparency and Accountability Committee in the Legislature.  Jeramey is committed to holding government agencies, elected officials and public servants accountable.

In Congress, Jeramey will be the watchdog for the integrity of public trust ensuring such trust is not misused or abused.

Jeramey believes passionately in integrity and transparency in government and he will use his real-world experience to root out and expose corruption and fraud in Washington.

In this era of “fake news” and “alternative facts,” we need leaders who will back their claims with real evidence and call out politicians who lie for short-term gain.

Jeramey will support legislation as he has in the Mississippi Legislature to reform campaign finance laws and reduce the toxic and corrupt impact of money in politics. He is opposed to the Citizens United decision allowing unchecked, anonymous money in politics.
